Internet or Web Marketing is one of the most esoteric jobs on the Information Superhighway. Like Attorneys in the real world, Internet Marketers are a dime a dozen in the Virtual world. The serious players on the web, who have actually quit their day jobs, are few and far in between.

Look in the phone book and you will see thousands of attorneys in one specific area. Browse the Internet and you will come across thousands of Web Marketers, all with their own specific pitch, all promising you a lucrative monthly salary that will give you the opportunity to purchase yachts, luxury cars, and fabulous homes. Nothing could be further from the truth. You can be a monumental success at Internet Marketing but you’re going to work like you never have before to realize the type of success that it can bring.

You’ll work twice as hard as you did when you worked in corporate America. The major difference is you will enjoy what you are doing therefore it won’t seem like work. If, early on, you find that you are not having fun with your efforts then get out of the business now. Internet Marketing is not a chore or task, it’s an affinity. It has to be because you will find yourself tweaking, and working on your network at un-Godly hours. For example, it’s 2:10am as I type this Hub. I’m tired, my eyelids are heavy, but I really want to finish what I am doing because I’m looking forward to the finished product. And yes, writing on the Web will be a vital part of your online success especially in the area of promotion and marketing.

Google is the arrogant, monopolistic bullies of the Internet. There is no trial by jury with the WWW giant and they “shoot first,” and really don’t care to ask questions later. If their “creative” algorithms detect any type of discrepancy, however minute, your Blog through Blogger, or your Adsense program is shut down forever. When you’re banned by Google, you have no alternative for getting back into their program. Emails go unanswered and those that are; you’re given a generic, esoteric response that you broke some impenetrable rule.

My Blog was online for two years and Google shut it down with no warning whatsoever. I only found out when I tried logging in one day, only to be greeted with a message to the effect of “this has been determined to be a Spam Blog.” How cold is that, no warning, and you get such an insensitive message?

Here’s the true story behind my blog, all of a sudden being deemed a “spam blog.” When Google booted me from the Adsense program a few months before shutting down my blog, I started using other contextual ad programs, such as Kontera, InfoLinks, and Chikita. On the particular “spamming blog” as determined by Google, I started InfoLinks, a direct competitor with Adsense. This is why my blog suddenly becomes a “spam blog,” because of the competition. As long as I ran the Google contextual links the blog was ok.

When one signs up for a free blog through Blogger.com (owned by Google) the adsense program is built-in and once you apply you can easily incorporate adsense ads into your blog. Therefore, it goes without saying, Google expects you to use their content advertising, otherwise your blog is spam.

Google is without a doubt, an Internet monopoly. This conglomerate doesn’t realize, nor do they actually care, that they too, have to abide by the laws of the Universe. One Universal guideline in particular dictates that no individual or corporation can avoid the immutable law of ‘Cause and Effect.’ Google steps on the little guy and has no remorse whatsoever. Collectively, and at some time in the near future, the Google Board of Directors will see that “evil carries the seed of it’s own destruction.”

Ultimately, most Internet Marketers benefit from Google’s lack of a conscious because it forces us to look at alternatives. If I were not unceremoniously booted from adsense I never would have discovered Kontera, InfoLinks, or Chikita.

Two concrete examples of Google’s deception, in this case, are:

1. Once your balance gets to $100 you get your first payout. My balance was at $97 when I was booted from the adsense program. This meant I would not receive any payment at all.

2. My blog was determined by Google to be a “spam blog” when I started using another contextual ad program, other than Google Adsense.

Internet marketing has become the “In” profession on the World Wide Web. The problem with attaining success in this field is that most people start out on the wrong path, stay there for awhile, then quit. The irony of the title and the article itself is: don’t quit your current “day job” until you can make the Internet, your day job. There are only a few ways to earn a living off the Internet within 3 months or less. Those are:

Develop the next Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter (you will need to have programming skills to have a shot a pulling that off).

Take out a loan or obtain a grant that will pay your bills for 12-24 months (with consistently hard work, this is the time needed to earn a living off the Internet).

Be a stay-at-home Mom or Dad.

If none of the three options are available, follow the steps in this article to the letter (excuse the pun) and in 12-24 months you will be able to make the Internet your “day job.”
