It would be inexcusably egocentric to suggest that we are alone in the cosmos. The chemistry is too rich to declare that. The universe is too vast. There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand in all the beaches of the world. There are more stars in the universe than all the sounds and words ever uttered by all humans who ever lived .. we are not alone.

Ingredients of the Universe are the same ingredients that make up a human being: 

  1. Hydrogen
  2. Helium
  3. Oxygen
  4. Carbon
  5. Nitrogen
Are we alone in the universe? We're made of the most common ingredients there are. Our chemistry is based on carbon. Carbon is the most chemically active ingredient in the entire periodic table. Life is based on carbon, the 4th most abundant ingredient in the universe.

If we ask ourselves, are we alone in the universe, it would be inexcusably egocentric to suggest that we are alone in the cosmos. The chemistry is too rich to declare that. The universe is too vast. There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand in all the beaches of the world. There are more stars in the universe than all the sounds and words ever uttered by all humans who have ever lived, to say we are alone in the universe. We're looking, but we haven't looked that far.

Life on earth, is it hard to form, just because we don't know how to do it in the lab, doesn't mean that nature had problems. It may be, given that information, given the right ingredients (which are everywhere), life may be inevitable. An inevitable consequence of complex chemistry.

If that's the case, looking at our own solar system, Mars for example, all evidence suggest that Mars was once a wet, fertile place, an oaisis. There are dried river beds, flood planes, river deltas, meandering rivers; all dried up now. There was some type of major cataclysm that destroyed life on Mars. This destruction of life was more than likely caused by the "runaway greenhouse effect."

The runaway greenhouse effect had something to do with the destruction of life on Venus as well (temperatures reached 900 degrees farenheit). A runaway greenhouse effect is a process in which a net positive feedback between surface temperature and atmospheric opacity increases the strength of the greenhouse effect on a planet until its oceans boil away. An example of this is believed to have happened in the early history of Venus. Venus is the best example in the solar system of a planet gone bad.

On the Earth, a runaway greenhouse effect, analogous to Venus, appears to have virtually no chance of being induced by anthropogenic activities (human impact on the environment or anthropogenic impact on the environment includes impacts on biophysical environments, biodiversity and other resources).

Asteroid impacts when they hit can cast rocks into space with escape philosophy (never come back to the planet from which it came). If Mars was wet and fertile before Earth was, as all evidence suggest, and if Mars had life, before Earth had life, it's possible for there to have been bacterial stowaways in the nooks and crannies of the rocks that were cast into space. The hostile environment of space would be nothing to this type of bacteria. Life on Earth could very well seeded by bacterial stowaways on rocks that were cast free from Mars. A plausible scenario called Panspermia.

Panspermia Theory suggest that life seeds came from space and planets exchanged life. Panspermia suggest that life could have existed on another planet and moved to Earth. Statistics have showed 7.5% of rocks from Mars reach Earth. The rocks would travel between 100 years to 16,000 years and more, to get to earth.






 



 

 

Nicolaus Copernicus is one of the most pivotal astronomers in history and is considered the founder of modern astronomy. was the first to prove that the Earth was not the center of the universe.

Copernicus worked as a mathematician, physician, classical scholar, artist, Catholic cleric, governor, diplomat, military leader, translator, and economist. Astronomy was a hobby, not his profession, but it was in this field where he received his biggest claim to fame.

In Copernicus’ day, scientists generally held a geocentric view of the universe – meaning the earth was the center of the solar system and remained stationary as the sun, stars, and planets revolved around it.

Copernicus’ hypothesis challenged this belief, asserting that the sun was the stationary center of the solar system and that the earth revolved around it. While this idea had been theorized by a few ancient scholars, Copernicus was the first to scientifically propose the idea of a "heliocentric" cosmology.

Copernicus’ ideas would spark the Copernican Revolution, which helped launch the Scientific Revolution of the 16th Century.

Copernicus heliocentric theory was published in the book titled, "On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres," in 1543, the year he died.

Opposition exploded sixty years later when the Catholic Church took action, alleging that a heliocentric point of view contradicted Holy Scripture.

The Catholic Church suspended further publication of Copernicus’ book until offending portions could be edited out (this is exactly what was done to many books of the bible). A decree was issued prohibiting any further work defending his heliocentric theory.

Pope Paul V sent notice of the decree to the astronomer Galileo, warning him not to uphold or defend Copernican doctrine. But in 1633, Galileo was convicted of suspicion of heresy for promoting Copernican ideas and was sentenced to house arrest for the remainder of his life.

God of the gaps is a type of theological perspective in which gaps in scientific knowledge are taken to be evidence or proof of God's existence. It refers to a specific form of the argument from ignorance fallacy, which asserts that a proposition is true because it has not yet been proven false.

Religious apologist, for the past several centuries have defended their belief's and views about God by utilizing the "God of the gaps" argument.

Eternal Life .. Most comments regarding eternal life are based on some religious book, something you heard from your mom/dad/minister, or via the religious grapevine. None of us know the answer to the conundrum of eternity.

If Albert Einstein couldn't figure it out, if Neil deGrasse Tyson can't figure it out, if Stephen Hawking can't figure it out, we darn sure won't. But let's look at a few facts:

  • The law of conservation of energy tells us that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; it can only be converted from one form to another. Ingredients that make up the Human Being are: Hydrogen, Helium, Oxygen, Carbon, Nitrogen. So not only do we exist in this universe, the universe itself exist in us. Given this information, and the right ingredients (which are everywhere), life throughout this vast universe is an inevitable consequence of complex chemistry.

  • At our purest form, we are energy. Energy can never be destroyed, it simply moves into form (incarnation into a planetary environment), through form (life in a planetary environment), and out of form (leaving the physical, planetary environment), and the cycle is repeated.
  • We are eternal universal travelers and all of our trips won't be on this one, miniscule planet.
